                                               CLOSEOUT MEMORANDUM

 Case Number: A14020007 Page 1of1

We reviewed an allegation of plagiarism in an NSF proposal 1 and referred an investigation to
the Subject's university. 2 The Subject stated that she worked on the proposal for a long period of
time and did not carefully distinguish original material from copied material as she was preparing her
drafts. The university concluded that the Subject recklessly plagiarized in the proposal and we
         concurred.

We submitted a report to NSF recommending actions to protect NSF interests. NSF made a
finding of research misconduct, issued a letter of reprimand, required certification and assurances for
one year, and prohibited the Subject from participating as a reviewer, advisor, or consultant for NSF
         for one year.

This case is closed with no further action taken.
