NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION OFFICE OF INSPECTOR GENERAL OFFICE OF INVESTIGATIONS CLOSEOUT MEMORANDUM Case Number: A14070033 Page 1of1 Our office received an allegation that a PI1 had not informed the NSF Program Officer that plants involved in a research project had died and that the research that was supposed to be accomplished was never completed. There was also a complaint that grant funds were not expended appropriately. Our investigation did confirm that the plants died during the research and were not replaced. However, the annual and final reports provided generic information and did not convey any significant research results. There were no false statements or falsified data within the reports. Also, a review of the university financial records did not indicate any inappropriate use of funds. This case is closed with no further action taken. NSF OIG Form 2 (l 1/02)
