                                               CLOSEOUT MEMORANDUM

Case Number: A14080038 Page 1 of 1

We assessed an allegation of plagiarism in a CAREER proposal. 1 We established that the
copied text derived from a template provided by a previously funded researcher as an example
describing the common elements of an educational assessment plan. We examined other NSF
proposals submitted by the Subject over the past two years for evidence of plagiarism. There was
no indication of inappropriate copying in any of these proposals. Given the totality of the
circumstances, we determined it was appropriate to close the case with a letter to the principal
investigator emphasizing the need for proper citation practices in the future.

This case is closed with no further action taken.
