Case Number: Al5030016 Page 1of1

We investigated allegations of data fabrication involving NSF funded research. We concluded that
that two individuals 1 fabricated data, and that these actions were a significant departure from the
standards of the research community and therefore constituted research misconduct.

We provided our investigative findings to NSF along with recommendations concerning research
misconduct, debarment, mandatory responsible conduct of research training, and imposition of
certifications and assurances for future documents submitted to NSF.

NSF considered our recommendations, made appropriate findings, and imposed sanctions for the
         misconduct.

This memo constitutes the case closeout. Accordingly, this case is closed.
