                                               CLOSEOUT MEMORANDUM

Case Number: 1-16-0115-0 Page 1 of 1

We received an allegation 1 of plagiarism in an NSF Proposal (Proposal 12) authored by a
PI3 (Subject!) and co-PI4 (Subject2). We checked Proposall with our plagiarism software. Our
review revealed a small amount of copied text from three sources, not quoted or attributed. A
scan of two other proposals (Proposal2 5 and Proposal3 6) revealed no inappropriately copied text.

We concluded the matter did not warrant a full investigation and sent both Subjects a
questionable research practices letter reminding them of the importance of diligent attribution of
         text.

This case is closed with no further action taken.
