This investigation was opened based on information that a university1 potentially received
overlapping grants from NSF 2 and another federal agency.
Investigation, which included interviews of the program officers of both agencies revealed that
there was initially some overlap in the two proposals; however, the program officers negotiated a
resolution which removed the overlapping objective and corresponding funding in one of the
proposals. The university was able to proceed with both awards.
Accordingly, this investigation is closed.
